Activision Blizzard Is Trying To Fire Its Chief Financial Officer

In an SEC filing today, Activision Blizzard announced that it was terminating the contract of Spencer Neumann, chief financial officer "for cause unrelated to the Company’s financial reporting or disclosure controls and procedures." The company has put him on paid leave and put the onus on Neumann to demonstrate why he should still be employed. In the meantime, chief corporate office Dennis Durkin is filling Neumann's role, and will take it over if Neumann leaves. Durkin was the company's CFO until May 2017 when he assumed his current position. This shuffling comes on the heels of Activision Blizzard reporting a loss of seven million monthly active users (down to 345 million) from the previous quarter, and  Destiny 2 not performing to the company's expectations , among other financial concerns. How Do The Assassin’s Creed Wines Taste?

*/ /*-->*/ Back in November, Ubisoft and winemaker Lot18 announced a partnership to release some wine themed after the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Anyone can throw a label on a bottle, but do these wines capture the essence of the subject matter and live up to the Assassin’s Creed name? I’m not a sommelier, but I have played a lot of the Assassin’s Creed series, so I decided that it is my duty to sample these six wines and see how they measure up to my assumptions. Below you’ll find my expert predictions for how each wine will taste, informed by over a decade of experience with these characters and their adventures. Then you’ll find my inexpert taste assessment, informed by the fact that I like drinking wine sometimes. 2017 Altaïr Ibn-La'ahad Loire Valley IGP Cabernet Franc Expert prediction: I think this will be a wine that comes across strong at first, but after many repetitive sips, the flavor could grow dull over time. The Sports Desk – Predicting The 2018 NFL Playoffs With Madden 19

EA Sports' Madden got last year's prediction of a Patriots Super Bowl victory wrong, but that's more of an outlier in the franchise's overall good track record at picking a winner via its sim engine. This week I've used Madden 19 to predict this year's playoffs, from Wild Card heroes to Super Bowl no-shows (using simulation game style, 6-minute quarters, and all-pro difficulty level in exhibition mode). I've tweaked the rosters as much as possible to reflect what's going on with the teams this week, but naturally the game can't sim everything to perfection. Madden's historic inability to produce realistic running-QB stats for a player like Lamar Jackson, for instance, is an interesting real-life wrinkle that is simply absent in the sim. Nevertheless, read on. Fortnite Fireworks For The New Year

Those of us in North America are still waiting for it to be 2019, but that doesn't mean the calendar hasn't already turned for others around the world. Fortnite players such as streamer Rocky in New Zealand have already experienced 2019 in Fortnite, and it's celebrated with nice fireworks display and a disco ball. In other Fortnite news, the game recently released  V7.10 Content Update #2  that features a boom box in battle royale, limited time modes, ice castle creative mode pre-fabs, challenges and weapons for Save the World, and more. Listen To Game Informer's Favorite Songs of 2018

Video games may be our primary passion, but several Game Informer staff members are also music aficionados. Each year, we like to share the soundtrack to our lives with readers with the off-chance that maybe our tastes and interests converge in more ways than one. With 26 contributors, the yearly compilation is quite eclectic. Expect many transitions into new genres as you meander through the long playlist. If you want to get right to the good stuff, here is some guidance for fans of particular music genres. The hip-hop voyage starts with Kendrick Lamar and SZA's collaboration "All the Stars." From there it transitions to a groove-centric section starring music from Janelle Monae, Sia, and other ass shakers.  Punk/metal fans should make sure to check out Idles, Daughters, Windhand, and Behemoth. Horsin' Around With Kyle In Red Dead Redemption II

Click here to watch embedded video If you know anything about the old west, then you know that crashing your horse is as important a part of the cowboy mythology as wearing spurs. And if you've played Red Dead Redemption II at all, then you know that Rockstar made sure to emphasize this important detail from the history books by making sure it happens a lot. I didn't capture every time I crashed my horse (or crashed without the assistance of my horse), but I caught a lot. Please enjoy my misery! Game Informer's Top Scoring Reviews Of 2018

Each year, the Game Informer staff reviews a ton of games. Despite hundreds of games coming across our desks each year, only a select few are able to obtain special commendations reserved for the highest scoring titles. Games that earn an 8.5 or 8.75 obtain a Game Informer Silver award, while a score ranging from 9 to 9.5 earns that game a Game Informer Gold award. While most of the best games of the year fall into that range, the most elite titles ascend to the next level to earn a Game Informer Platinum award (9.75 or 10 score). To help you keep track of the best of the best, we've compiled all of the top scoring games of 2018 here. Check out the games we've thought are the best of the year so far, and if you want to learn more, you can read the full review with a simple click-through.
